Valverde gives green-light for Arsenal to sign Barcelona midfielder

It’s been another busy week at Arsenal; boss Arsene Wenger finally announced that he was staying for another two years and now reports from Turkey have stated that he’s close to landing his first summer signing.

Turkish Football claims that The Gunners are ready to tie up a deal with Barcelona for midfielder Arda Turan. The 30-year-old Turkish international has been given the green-light by new coach Ernesto Valverde to leave the Camp Nou this summer and Arsenal are in pole-position to sign him.

It’s claimed that the Premier League side have been in talks with Turan’s agent, Ahmet Bulut, for at least a month and another outlet, Haberturk understands that the player, who has failed to live up to potential in Spain, will be the first to leave in Valverde’s summer revamp.

Turan arrived at the Camp Nou in 2015 in a £24M move from Atletico Madrid but only managed to start 14 games in La Liga this season. Chelsea have also been linked with the player but it’s their North London rivals who appear to be in the box seat.
