Valverde set to give Barcelona midfielder a new contract

For so long it has seemed as though his future would lie away from the club but new Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde is understood to be ready to offer Brazilian midfielder Rafinha a new deal at the Camp Nou as he sets about his summer revolution.

Catalan journal Sport writes that the new tactician has total trust in the 24-year-old, who grew up in the Blaugrana’s famed Masia academy and who has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus this summer.

With club legend Andres Iniesta still unsure whether to commit to a new deal in Catalonia, Valverde is ready to shape his new-look team around the boy from Brazil despite his total number of appearances for the first-team only just reaching over 50. During his time at the club however, he has won two La Liga titles, a Champions League crown and four Copa del Rey titles.
