Wanda Nara: ‘Juventus have offered €50m for Icardi, Tottenham and Arsenal interested’

After releasing an exclusive interview with calciomercato.com last Sunday, Wanda Nara has also talked with Corriere della Sera talking about the future of his husband Mauro Icardi.

Wanda, why do you want Icardi to leave Inter?
“That’s not what I want. We want to stay in Milan. People say I am a mercenary, but I am not. They have to say the truth. They can’t say Icardi is not for sale and then talk to other clubs.”

But you asked for a new contract just one year after the last extension. Do you think it’s fair?
“I’ve asked a renewal because the club had promised me a renewal. Last year we accepted their conditions, which mean a lower salary, the sale of the 50% of Mauro’s economic rights and there is no release clause on his contract. They have to keep their promises.”

Piero Ausilio [Inter’s director of sport] says Icardi is not for sale, is that true?
“There are many offers, but I do not negotiate with other clubs. I only talk about Mauro’s contract, that’s my role, not doing negotiations. Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Arsenal have made contact. Napoli and AS Roma are also interested now.”

Rumours have also linked Juventus with welcoming Icardi’s services...
“Paratici met Ausilio last week offering € 50 million. They say it’s not true, but I can confirm it. I am not telling lies.”

So is Icardi going to Juve?
“Mauro wants to stay at Inter and that’s what I want too. Icardi respects Mancini he has never said nothing wrong but we want to be respected as well.”

Sorry Wanda, but it looks like you are pushing Icardi out of Inter...
“He loves Inter and I want him to stay with a contract extension of one year. Staying in Milan would me much more comfortable for me and my sons. I am pregnant now, I don’t want to move somewhere else. I don’t want to move four people away. However, both me and Mauro know the importance of money. Our families were not so rich so we know how important money is.”

You don’t seem to be on very good terms with Piero Ausilio, what’s going to happen now?
“I’ll talk with the new owners. They don’t want to sell Icardi, he’s the symbol of Inter, he’s like Pogba for Juventus. Why don’t they want to keep a promise? Words are worth more than a contract.”

Has any representative of Inter talked with you recently?
“Zanetti has called Mauro saying that everything will be sorted. I know he’ll do everything he can to satisfy Mauro and make him stay.”
