AC Milan defeated Fiorentina yesterday 1-0 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and kept hope alive in the race for a place in the next edition of the Champions League, with the Rossoneri now hopeful that their competitors, mainly Atalanta and Inter Milan, will make a misstep in their upcoming matches in Serie A.

Gattuso's men had a fine first half in Florence and could have taken a bigger lead but Hakan Calhanoglu's goal in the first 45 minutes was eventually the winning goal and the precious goal that still keeps hope alive within the team.

The second half was a somewhat worse showing of Gattuso's men, with Federico Chiesa having numerous chances to equalize for a struggling Fiorentina team but the Rossoneri held on to the result to the satisfaction of the many fans of the team on the road.
