West Ham set to break transfer record for Arsenal striker

West Ham are willing to break their transfer record by signing French international Olivier Giroud for £20m, according to Take Football.

Giroud only signed a contact with the Gunners last year, but following Arsenal’s lukewarm season, where they won F.A Cup but finished fifth, missing out on a Champions League spot for the first time in 20 years, manager Arsene Wenger has got pressure on his shoulders to bring in big name strikers and turn over the players have brought the club Premier League mediocrity in recent times.

West Ham, who finished 11th in the Premier League, equally didnot impressive during last season. Their transition to the London Stadium resulted in a clash of tradition between supporters and hierarchy.

Slaven Bilic is striking lukewarm with the fans and will be looking to heal over some of the wounds of last season with a solid purchase in the way of 30-year-old Giroud.
