West Ham to pay £13m for ex-Man United star

West Ham have told Bayer Leverkusen that they’re going to try to sign Chicharito Hernandez, according to the latest reports from the Mirror (via the Metro).

The Mexican international and former Manchester United star has played a key role in Germany, scoring goals 39 goals in all competitions since he joined Bayer in 2015.

The 29-year-old has also been linked to Tottenham Hotspur, and is known to like the idea of returning to the Premier League.

The Mexican played a huge role in Man United’s Champions League campaign in 2011, scoring 20 goals in all competitions.

Now, the Hammers are reported to have told the Aspirins that they will activate Hernandez’ £13 million release clause.

The striker has only a year left on his deal at the BayArena, and has yet to agree terms with the Bundesliga hopefuls.

He could be enticed to leave, because he would otherwise leave the German side without a transfer fee if he left on a Bosman next year.
