Why Juventus dropped interest in PSG star

Juventus were linked with a swoop for PSG winger Angel Di Maria this past summer, but ultimately a move to Turin never materialised.

The 29-year-old instead remained in the French capital, where he has scored one goal and provided four assists in 11 outings in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side.

It could have been very different though as a move to Juve had been touted, but ultimately the Bianconeri opted against swooping for him.

It's claimed that this was due to the high wages that the Argentine international was demanding, as well as the fact that the club preferred to invest in Douglas Costa instead.

The Brazilian attacker joined from Bayern Munich to add further quality and depth to Massimiliano Allegri’s squad, and he has done a decent job in limited playing time with a goal and three assists in 13 appearances.

In turn, perhaps considering his touted wage demands, Juve made the right choice in dropping their pursuit of the Champions League winner in favour of Costa.
