Why Man Utd should hope for a Liverpool win against Napoli

While Manchester United fans would certainly love to see Liverpool lose to Napoli and play in the Europa League, its time they forget the fierce rivalry and thing practically because a Liverpool qualification into the next round improve United's chances of going far in the competition.

Napoli travel to Anfield today and face Jurgen Klopp's men in a big game in the Champions League.

But Liverpool will have to win 1-0 against the partenopei and if Carlo Ancelotti's men do get a goal, Liverpool will have win by a two goal margin to qualify for the next round.

But here's when the catch for Manchester United comes in. If Liverpool win and somehow finish first, United's chances of facing a big opposition will come down since they can't face a club from the same country in the next round.

United are very likely to finish second in their group and will only face group winners in the second round. As things stand, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich are some of the teams United can face in the next round and they have already qualified or are very likely to qualify as group winners. Porto too have qualified as group winners.

If Liverpool match the conditions to qualify and PSG drop points against Red Star Belgrade, United will not have any chance of meeting Napoli or PSG in the Round of 16 as Liverpool will top the group. And a win for Klopp's men at Anfield would enhance United's chances of getting an easier game in the next round.
