Why West Ham have put Obiang’s Fiorentina move on hold

Only a few days ago, Pedro Obiang seemed to be close to signing for Fiorentina but according to Il Corriere dello Sport, West Ham have now put the player’s transfer on hold.

Obiang wants Fiorentina move but the Hammers have not accepted the offer of La Viola. Lille have put the same offer in the table but the French club is eager to complete the € 10 million move without splitting the payment into multiple installments, unlikely Fiorentina.

Obiang is pushing to return to Serie A and Fiorentina are continuing talks with the Premier League side hoping to reach an agreement and sign the 26-year-old.

Fiorentina signed West Ham’s Edimilson Fernandes on hold last summer but the Swiss International is failing to impress in Tuscany.

Pioli needs midfield reinforcement in January and is pushing to make the Obiang deal happen. Fiorentina can only wait now.
