With a Morata this good, do United regret not signing him?

Chelsea faced Manchester United yesterday as the blues came away with the 1-0 victory thanks to an Alvaro Morata strike. Let's not forget that the Spanish international was inches away from joining Manchester United this past summer but in the end, the Red Devils signed Romelu Lukaku as Morata joined forces with Antonio Conte in London.

The ex-Real Madrid and Juve striker came out on top in his match-up versus Lukaku as he seemed everywhere for the Blues last night. He scored the lone goal of the game as he came up huge for Conte's team yet again. Lukaku on the other hand struggled to find spaces as he also had a few turnovers during the game. The Belgian forward hasn't scored a goal for United in some time even if he has been good for them on the season. He has so far scored 7 goals in 11 EPL games and 3 goals in 4 UCL appearances on the season. Morata on the other hand has 7 goals in 9 EPL starts and has scored 1 UCL goal in 3 Champions league games so far on the season for Chelsea. Their stats are pretty similar but it is Lukaku's lack of recent production which has been a problem for the Red Devils.

Mourinho defended Lukaku on a few occasions but it is clear that he will have to be better if United want to improve. Morata on the other hand seems to be the perfect number 9 under Conte as he has been really solid for Chelsea. The Spaniard won the first battle against the Belgian international but Lukaku now needs to respond in the best possible way, with a goal. One has to wonder if Mourinho regrets not having signed Morata this past summer...
