If reports are to be believed, former Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti is the favorite to take over the job of the Italian national team manager, amidst links with Chelsea.

Giampiero Ventura resigned following Italy’s failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in 2018 as they slumped to a disappointing 1-0 aggregate defeat to Sweden. It is believed that the Azzurri would prefer a strong character as the Italy boss and they see Ancelotti as the perfect man to take over.

There though, is already a need to reorganize the FIGC, whose presidency is likely to change in the coming few days. This change in leaders can help in convincing Ancelotti to join, as the Italian looks to move on from his sacking at Bayern Munich.

A four-year project till the World Cup of 2022 can be offered to Ancelotti, who rejected two big offers from China as he believes that he can still coach at the highest level.

While it won’t be easy to convince Ancelotti into joining the Azzurri, Chelsea have already drawn links with their former boss. AC Milan too will look to get him, depending on whether Vincenzo Montella holds onto his job or not.
