Arsenal tried to sign Aubameyang last summer: here’s how much Borussia Dortmund asked their star

Borussia Dortmund rejected Arsenal’s € 60 million bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last summer, El Confidencial has reported.

Arsene Wenger had been linked with welcoming the services of the best strikers available in the market last summer: from Gonzalo Higuain to Alexandre Lacazette to the highly-rated Borussia Dortmund ace.

The Bundesliga giants, however, rejected Wenger’s bid asking € 100 million for the 27-year-old striker. The Gabon International has 87 goals and 30 assists in 151 games with Borussia Dortmund. He impressed during the last campaign netting 39 goals in 49 games in all competitions.

Aubameyang had also been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but the Gabonese striker will be prevented from joining the Santiago Bernabeu outfit as they’ve been handed a two-window transfer ban which is not going to allow them to make new signings until the winter transfer window of 2018.

The former Saint-Etienne striker’s form has been impressive this season having Aubameyang netted seven goals in the opening eight games of the campaign.
