Brozovic: 'I didn't ask Inter to sell me'

The Marcelo Brozovic situation has taken a new twist. Previously slated to leave under Indonesian owner Erick Thohir, it now appears that his departure isn't such a foregone conclusion.

Neither the Indonesian magnate nor minority shareholder Massimo Moratti were willing to renew the deal they'd signed with him two years ago.

The midfielder's recent declarations seemed to hint at a move... something which may have changed now that the club is under Chinese ownership.

“It's not at all true that I asked to be sold,” Brozovic told Croatian newspaper Vecernji List, “I'm only focussed on doing well at the Euros, then we'll talk about it”.

Brozovic has had an impressive season at the Giuseppe Meazza, managing to net four goals and drawing praise from former players Javier Zanetti and Francesco Toldo.

“It gives me a lot of pride to hear two Inter legends like Zanetti and Toldo speak well of me”.

The Croatian has attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, to name two elite European clubs. The 23-year-old also spoke both of his role... and of the #EpicBrozo craze, which began as a locker-room joke and quickly spiralled into an online phenomenon.

“If I had to choose, I'd play in the middle of the park. Then it's up to my coaches to decide where to use me. At the end of the season, for example, I was deployed on the right by Inter. It wouldn't be a problem to do it for the national team.

“Epic Brozo? The tradition will continue in France!”.
