CM Sources: Details of Zenit’s mega contract offer to Witsel
The Belgian’s transfer to the J Stadium was blocked by Zenit in the deadline day after that a full agreement between all the three parties was thought to had been found.
Witsel promised Juventus he’d move to the club in July 2017, once his contract with Zenit expires. The Old Lady will try to make a new attempt to get him almost for free in January. The Serie A outfit were about to sign him for € 22 million last summer.
Trouble is, Zenit do not want to lose their midfield star and will offer him a € 6 million-a-year contract extension, plus add-ons. Witsel seems not eager to extend his stay in Russia, but his entourage could have a different opinion, given Zenit’s lucrative offer.
Negotiations between Zenit and Witsel will start soon, but Juventus hope that the player will keep his word and move to the J Stadium in January or, at least in July.
