EXCLUSIVE: Inter and Napoli to battle for Empoli starlet
The Partenopei are seeking to sign Torino’s Nikola Maksimovic, but talks between the two sides have been put on hold. Napoli have offered € 22 million to secure the player’s services and they expect Torino to take a final decision within the next Sunday, otherwise they will abandon the Serbian full back to pounce on Empoli wonderkid Federico Barba, calciomercato.com has exclusively learned.
The 22-year-old central defender’s contract at the Castellani expires in June 2017, but Barba has no intension of extending his current deal with the Tuscans.
Roberto Mancini is also interested in signing Barba to replace Andrea Ranocchia who’s set to leave the San Siro in January window alongside Jaun Jesus.
Empoli are considering to sign Sassuolo’s Luca Antei to replace Barba.
Roma have an option to match any offer coming from other sides interested in the product of their Academy, but Luciano Spalletti’s side have no interest in signing the player in January window.
