Golden Foot 2010| Francisco Varallo on the promenade

The legend Francisco “Pancho” Varallo has found his place in football history. The only survivor of the first World Cup Final, Uruguay 1930, has been chosen by GOLDEN FOOT to join the CHAMPIONS PROMENADE in Monte Carlo, the gallery of the greatest players of all time. Last May 18, Antonio Caliendo, Golden Foot president, went personally in Argentina (with Diario Olé, media partner of the career award, delegates) to take the forward's footprints that will be placed on the football Walk of Fame in Monte Carlo. Meeting Varallo, in his daughter house in La Plata, was touching. Varallo, who recently turned 100, has posed with the “Golden Foot” award, a golden footprint who will be given to the winner on the next October 11. “It's a great satisfaction, unforgettable”, Pancho said. “This award can't be compared to anything else”. Varallo also received the Golden Foot book, with photos of the most important legends as Maradona, Puskás, Di Stéfano, Nilton Santos, Boniek, Eusébio, Platini, Rumenigge, Gerd Müller and many others. “What do I want more? Argentina to win or to be on the best teams in South Africa”, Varallo concluded. CALCIOMERCATO.COM IS MEMBER OF THE JURY AND MEDIA PARTNER OF GOLDEN FOOT 2010, CLICK HERE TO VOTE YOUR PLAYER
