    Has Everton target Axel Witsel signed with Napoli following new offer?

    Could Axel Witsel be heading to Serie A after all? Some new reports indicate that Napoli have increased their offer for the Belgian international: not only are they willing to offer more than €20 million to Zenit, they're also willing to increase Witsel's salary to 3 million (plus bonuses), up from the €2.5m we'd heard in the past few days. 

    It initially appeared that Everton had persuaded the Red Devil, but something may have changed in the player's mind, as he is now said to be attracted by the prospect of playing Champions League football, as well as starring in a smaller league for less money instead of being just another fish in a more remunerative pond. 

    It gets better: Radio Kiss Kiss, one of the Partenopei's official partners, now claim that an agreement has been reached with both Witsel and Zenit. One thing makes this version believable: the fact that Napoli were willing to go slightly over the €20 million mark was enough for Zenit to be happy to let Witsel go.
