Italian front pages - "Giant Scudetto", "Go Ranieri Go"

The front pages of Italy’s three main sports newspapers hail Max Allegri’s Juventus as they close in on their fifth consecutive Scudetto. There’s also space for the incredible achievement of Claudio Ranieri who’s Leicester City now sit on the brink of history.

Corriere dello Sport salutes the bianconeri after last night’s 2-1 win at Fiorentina declaring it’s a “Giant Scudetto”; a late penalty save from goalkeeper Gigi Buffon denied Fiorentina a share of the points and put one hand on the Serie A championship. Napoli must now beat Roma this afternoon to keep the title alive for at least another week. The journal also reserves space for Ranieri after his Leicester City side beat Swansea City 4-0 on Sunday to move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.

La Gazzetta dello Sport announces that Juve’s win in Florence is “Worth Five”, as the Scudetto now homes into view. The pink paper is now convinced that Allegri’s team are home and hosed and may even win the title in front of their TV sets later today.

Turin based Tuttosport are obviously in celebratory mood this morning after the events at the Artemio Franchi. The front page shouts out, “Legendary” as the Old Lady win their 24th game out of 25 played in Serie A. The paper also spares a thought for Torino coach Ventura who, it believes, has come to the end of his reign at the club after Sunday’s home defeat to Sassuolo.
