Juventus were right not to sign Julian Draxler

There was a moment last summer when Juventus were closing in on the signing of Shalke 04 Julian Draxler, but the deal collapsed on the deadline day as the Old Lady considered the German’s economic requests for their star excessive.

Draxler eventually signed with Wolfsburg which had just sold Kevin de Bruyne to Manchester City and all Juventus fans went literally mad when Marotta decided to sign Inter outcast Hernanes instead.

The Brazilian midfielder joined the Stadium for a fee of €11 million, while Draxler’s price tag was 36.

But that’s not all. The player’s entourage asked € 5 million a year to join the Bianconeri, which means the Italian club should have invested somewhere in the region of € 76 million to complete the Germany International move.

Looking to what Draxler is actually doing at Wolfsburg, Juventus’ decision to drop him was not that bad.

The 23-year-old has only scored four goals in 24 games with the Wolves and even if his club have qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 they only sit 8th in Bundesliga and they were eliminated by the Germany Cup.
