New Juventus defender Alex Sandro doesn't care about his €26 million price tag*, and will continue to fight for his place in the Bianconeri line-up ahead of this weekend's match with Empoli.

The 24-year-old has rarely featured this season, with coach Massimililano Allegri opting for Patice Evra in the left back role.

"The words of Buffon, Evra and more experienced players have given us a great incentive to improve," Sandro told Sky Sport Italia.

"The results are currently not meeting our expectations.

"We have the players to get out of this mess."

With Sandro barely featuring this campaign thus far, questions have been raised over his price tag.

"I do not care for what people say about my price.

"I am just thinking about improving both in defence and attack.

"My growth as a player is continuing."

His rivalry with Evra to earn a place in the first team has been well documented, but there is no bad blood between the players.

"I've always been a fan of him [Evra] since his days with Manchester United.

"It's an honour to train with him."

*With bonuses. The initial fee paid by Juventus was €20 million.
