Mancini defends De Boer, takes a shot at Inter's directors

Roberto Mancini has had his say on the current situation at Inter Milan.

Though he was replaced by the beleaguered Frank De Boer, the former Manchester City Coach has made it clear that managers deserve more time, clearly implying that the same should go for the Dutchman.

“Getting rid of Coaches and stirring the por is our favourite pastime,” he told a conference at Rome’s LUISS University, “we like it that way, otherwise we’d struggle to sell [papers].

“But people need to be calm, if anything because there are many fired coaches, and often things only get worse because the newcomer needs to get to know the club well.

“That’s why I think clubs should take it more calmly. In Italy teams need to feel the club’s presence, to feel that it’s close at all times.

“It’s clear that it is fundamental, sometimes it’s hard to agree among Italians. To have a Chinese, an Indonesian, an Italian and an English director is a bit more difficult.

“They don’t know what the team really needs, there can be some difficulties. It’s clear that companies need time to get results, in football it’s short term. Every three days you’re criticised, praised to the skies… which makes it difficult for coaches..”.
