Agent Dario Canovi confirmed that Inter boss Claudio Ranieri tried his best to keep Thiago Motta in San Siro.

Following the Brazilian’s debut with Paris Saint-Germain, Canovi said: “Ranieri tried everything he could to persuade Thiago to stay. But Inter should have realised how important he was before the transfer offer came. My client was hurt by that”.

“Thiago was also hurt because he didn’t feel the faith from part of the Press and the fans. The accused him of being slow but as Nils Liedholm used to say it is the ball that must run more that the player.

“Thirty-five years into this job, I have never seen such a determination between three parties (Leonardo, Carlo Ancelotti and Thiago Motta) to complete a deal. Thiago made a professional choice and he picked France over Italy even if he had no problem with Inter,” concluded Canovi.
