REVEALED! Missing out on European football could cost AC Milan € 50-80 million

AC Milan won their last silverware in 2011, when the rossoneri lifted the Italian SuperCup at expenses of hatred rivals Inter. This should give Cristian Brocchi’s lads enough motivation to beat Serie A champions Juventus in the Coppa Italia final, though everyone knows that beating the Old Lady won’t be an easy task at all.

The rossoneri are in serious danger of not qualifying to Europa League for the second successive season. They can still get a European placement through the league, even if beating AS Roma on Sunday may not be enough as they’d also need Sassuolo not to win against Inter in the week-end.

With Silvio Berlusconi who has recently signed an exclusive negotiation agreement with an unspecified Chinese consortium interested in taking over at the club, missing out on a European spot could cost the diavoli lot in terms of incomes.

As CM.com’s Federico Albrizio reports, the Serie A club could suffer a depreciation of  € 50-80 million without Eurpean football next season, with consequences on the club’s summer transfer window as well.

Qualifying to Europa League would allow the club to invest €100-150 million on new recruits and Sevilla FC manager Unay Emery would become the club’s top target for their bench. Another season without travels around Europe would force the rossoneri to spend less money during the summer transfer window and appoint a less popular coach like Vincenzo Montella, Marco Giampoaolo or Roberto Donadoni whose stocks have been recently rising.
