Zenit St. Petersburg were interested in Mauro Zarate, but the Inter forward turned the Russians offer down.

“We were after Zarate, but he didn’t want to play for us,” Luciano Spalletti told news agency Ria Novosti.

The Argentine forward is struggling at Inter and is expected to return to Lazio at the end of his loan deal with the Nerazzurri.
