AC Milan targeting Atletico superstar on a free transfer next summer

The most imminent need is to give coach Gattuso at least three players in the winter market, given the many injuries that have struck the team. In parallel, however, Leonardo and Maldini are also working on the 2019/20 season.

The business done will have to be rational not to receive new sanctions from UEFA. And in this sense, Milan have started thinking of the arrival of Diego Godin at the San Siro. The Uruguayan refused to move to Manchester United last summer to try and reach the Champions League final at the Wanda Metropolitan stadium in June. Once this goal has been closed, the player could decide to embark on a new adventure.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Leonardo has already taken the first steps in this direction. The defender's contract with Atletico expires in June, and the Rossoneri will have overcome the competition of many clubs, including Juventus.
