Han Li: ‘No doubts over AC Milan transfer market’

AC Milan executive director Han Li has dismissed reports suggesting that he was disappointed with the club’s summer transfer campaign.

His comments come in response to an article in Il Giorno, which suggested that he wasn’t entirely pleased with the decisions made over the summer, particularly the failure to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, he has denied such claims, and insisted that both the management and the players signed this past summer have the full backing of the ownership.

“The doubts over Milan’s transfer market and my alleged question as to why Aubameyang wasn’t signed were totally unfounded.

“Aubameyang is a great champion, but as the owners of Milan we’ve consistently shared the transfer strategy of the management and we have no doubt over the absolute quality of the players we chose and they have our utmost confidence.”

While it may well be a show of faith from Li, it doesn’t change the fact that Milan are in eighth place in the Serie A table after 11 games, and are falling further behind their rivals for a Champions League qualification spot.

In turn, the club may be in agreement over the additions made to the squad, but results aren't matching expectations and that is ultimately the biggest issue.
