Pirlo: 'Conte better than Mourinho, but he won't like Icardi'

Former Italy star Andrea Pirlo has spoken with Sky Sport about Antonio Conte's imminent move to Inter where he will replace Luciano Spalletti: "In my opinion, Conte can give more than Mourinho, especially in terms of structure and agonism. If he'd join Inter the fans will support the team, even more, they'll be closer to the players".

"Icardi? I don't think Mauro is a good striker for Conte's style. Conte wants strikers who can find good links with the rest of the team, strikers who bass the ball to each other and Icardi doesn't do it very often".

Sources have confirmed Calciomercato.com that Conte will be appointed Inter coach in the coming hours with Luciano Spalletti who will walk out of the club after a two-year spell at the San Siro.

Pirlo has been linked with joining Conte's technical staff but the former Juve and AC Milan star is also one of the candidates for Juventus' Under 23 team which is also looking for a new manager after the departure of Mauro Zironelli.
