Paris Saint-Germain had the chance to sign a player who could have really boosted their midfield, but instead opted not to on Coach Thomas Tuchel’s orders.

His name? Axel Witsel, who was also chased by Manchester United and Napoli this summer, and who has been playing for Borussia Dortmund, spent last season in China and has already scored once in the Bundesliga.

Le10Sport claim that the Belgian international wanted to leave the CSL, and that PSG had considered the move, only for Tuchel to kibosh it.

The €20 million midfielder would have been the midfielder to complete Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield, which is sorely lacking a replacement for Thiago Motta. Recent reports from France - as well as comments made by Thiago Silva - indicated that the dressing room was miffed at the lack of signings, especially as Adrien Rabiot was expected by some to leave.

It appears that Tuchel wanted someone else to act as the defensive midfielder: N’Golo Kanté, who chose to remain at Chelsea despite some lobbying from his France team-mates who play for the Parisians.
