Chinese and MLS clubs interested in Mertens, player only interested in Napoli
Il Mattino states that Napoli have drawn up a new contract for the Belgian, who is currently contracted at the club till the summer of 2020. Napoli are proposing an extension till the summer of 2021 and 2022.
The report states that while there is a strong temptation from MLS clubs and Chinese clubs, Mertens will not be tempted by anything other than a new Napoli contract at this point.
Aurelio De Laurentiis feels that Mertens will sign a new contract and he is sure that the Belgian will commit himself to the club in the longer term. The player too feels that he has three more years of football left in him and he can play at the top level for that time.
