EXCLUSIVE: Rugani set to do a Coman and hand Juve a transfer request

Despite having played only two minutes (yes, 2 minutes) during this season, Daniele Rugani is definitely one of the best defenders out there. The former Empoli star thrived in Tuscan past season under Maurizio Sarri who is now asking the Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis to acquire his pupil for an offer in the region of € 20 million.

Despite their recent poor performances both with the club and Italy national team, Andrea Barzagli, Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci are still considered the best  full-backs at the club and it seems that there won’t be too many opportunities for Rugani to play on a regular basis at the Stadium, at least for this season.

Massimiliano Allegri considers him as a mere back-up of the three senior central defenders, just like he was considering Kinglesy Coman a replacement of Juventus’ senior strikers past season.

The Frenchman asked to leave the club during the summer and the Old Lady loaned him to Bayern Munich on a € 7 million deal for a two-year loan, although the Bundesliga giants can exercise a € 28 million buy-out clause to make the former PSG’s stay at the Allianz Arena permanent.

Despite the remarkable capital gain (Coman joined Juventus’ as a free agent the year before), Juventus don’t want to lose another potential ace due to his lack of playing time.

As calciomercato.com’s transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano reveals, Rugani will ask to leave the Stadium in January, but the club won’t support the player’s requests, differently from what they did with Coman last summer.

Not even a € 20 million bid will make Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici change their mind, even if they could consider to sell Rugani on a six-months loan to a club which is not involved in the Serie A title race like Sampdoria.
