Manolas-Roma, a contract renewal is close. Juve made an attempt for the player!

Kostas Manolas was a hot name this past summer as many clubs were interested in the center-back including Manchester United and Chelsea but in the end, Roma resisted. It would’ve been bad business for Roma to sell him since they would’ve had to give a large part of the profits to Olympiacos (as was agreed upon when he first transferred to Rome).

Juve made an attempt:
Before getting Benatia, Juve also made a concrete attempt for Manolas. They had talks with the player’s entourage but Roma did not budge and closed any type of negotiations right away.

Contract renewal: His contract renewal is edging closer as Manolas will earn between 3 and 3.5 million euros per year. Both parties still have to talk about the bonuses to be included as Manolas’ initial demands were set at 4 million euros per year were as Roma were offering 2.5 million euros per season. The parties are now much closer as they will soon meet again. His current deal expires in 2019 as Roma will probably extend his deal for a few more years. They will also add a release clause (around 40 million euros) to the player’s new contract.
