Sassuolo rule out Zaza-Berardi swap deal

Talking to the Italian radio program La Politica nel Pallone, Sassuolo President Giorgio Squinzi has dismissed reports suggesting that his side are planning a swap deal with Juventus involving Domenico Berardi and former Neroverdi hit-man Simone Zaza.

“We are not a small team anymore. We can say that we have some Serie A experience now and we could also snatch a Europe League qualification this season.”

“We are not going to sell Berardi in exchange with Zaza. Simone [Zaza] is a champion and I hope he’ll get more playing time at Juve this season, but Berardi will stay here club until June.”

As previously reported, the Old Lady wants to sign a striker who can also be deployed as attacking winger in January, with Ezequiel Lavezzi and Sassuolo’s star Berardi topping Giuseppe Marotta’s wish-list.

It is just a matter of time, by the way, before Berardi can join the Stadium as he will become a Juventus player from next June on a € 18 million deal, while Zaza is chased by Premier League sides Watford and Stoke City, though his Juventus January exit seems highly unlikely at the moment.
