WOW! Berlusconi and Galliani want Montella for Milan, Sacchi sponsors Giampaolo!
Despite repeatedly defending his latest managerial choice, Christian Brocchi, the feeling at Arcore is that Silvio Berlusconi will have no choice but to get rid of the former youth team coach if the Rossoneri are unable to beat Juventus in this month's Coppa Italia final.
Though the Diavolo's front office has yet to contact Montella or Sampdoria, the former Fiorentina man would be both Berlusconi and CEO Adriano Galliani's pick. Eusebio Di Francesco was very popular with both, too, but his renewal with Sassuolo has excluded him from the running.
Montella has a 1.5 million release clause, but he isn't the only name on the list, either.
Two-time Champions League winner Arrigo Sacchi also sits in on many of these meetings, as Berlusconi has always respected his opinion. The former Italy and Milan coach is very enthusiastic about Marco Giampaolo, currently the manager of Empoli, but apparently determined to leave at the end of the season.
Sacchi is such an estimator of Giampaolo's that he offered him the Italian Under-21 coaching job a while back, too.
