Europa League, Inter: Felipe Melo to make return to lineup against Southampton

Inter face Southampton in a key Europa League clash tonight. A win would help the nerazzurri to remain in race for the group stage qualification and interim boss Stefano Vecchi will be in charge of the team tonight as Frank De Boer was sacked as Inter boss two days ago.

The Italian tactician is set to start Felipe Melo in centre midfield alongside former Cardiff man Gary Medel. Vecchi is expected to use a 4-4-1-1 formation with Candreva and Perisic on the wings and Ever Banega behind the sole striker Mauro Icardi.

Melo, 33, has only played 184 minutes so far this season and his last appearance with Inter in this campaign is dated back to the 29th of September when Inter lost an away Europa League clash to Sparta Prague. The Brazilian has only two starts in the current campaign, both in Europa League: the first one is Inter’s home game against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, the second one is the away Sparta Prague game.

    PREDICTED LINEUPS FOR SOUTHAMPTON-INTER

SOUTHAMPTON (4-1-4-1): Forster; Martina, Yoshida, van Dik, McQueen; Romeu; Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Redmond, Hojbjerg; Austin.

INTER (4-4-1-1): Handanovic; Ansaldi, Miranda, Ranocchia, Nagatomo; Candreva, Medel, Melo, Perisic; Banega; Icardi.
