Inter, Ranocchia ‘working like a dog’ to improve

Inter centre-back Andrea Ranocchia is being criticized by media and fans for some disappointing performances through the last couple of seasons, but the Italian defender is willing to prove his detractors wrong and improve his performances on the pitch through hard work in trainings.

That’s what he told Il Corriere della Sera in an interview published this morning by the Italian paper.

“I am working like a dog, not only on the pitch, but also off it. Sometimes everything goes well, some other time not. When hard times come there are two paths you can follow: you can either give up or carry on fighting.”

“In the last three months, I have been going to a centre where I get mental and physical support. There is a person a talk with, not a psychologist, but a mental training expert. I’ve understood that nothing is irreparable in life.”

“I still believe there is some sort of prejudice against me. Looks like I am the only one who has not won at Inter. Truth is, everyone has had hard times. In six years I saw over 100 players and several presidents and chiefs, this will change soon.”

“I was on good terms with Mancini. He used to talk to me a lot and left me free to join Samp when I wanted to get game time. He was happy when I returned last summer, but you could tell something had broken with the club. De Boer’s rules are very strict, but small things can make the difference.”
