Brazilian full-back Maxwell seems close to a move to Paris Saint-Germain so Milan are now looking to another Barcelona defender, Eric Abidal, to strengthen their backline.

Maxwell has been approached by Leonardo and seems delighted about the opportunity to move to France.

According to Le Parisien, the former Ajax and Inter player will be the first signing under Carlo Ancelotti meaning that Federico Balzaretti will remain at Palermo.

Milan were hoping to sign Maxwell but are now looking to persuade Abidal to move to San Siro also considering that the former Lyon player could be available in the summer. The Rossoneri have offered him a three-year contract but Arsenal are reportedly interested in his services too.

Meanwhile, Tottenham centre-back William Gallas revealed having turned down an offer from the French giants.
