Paper Talk: Inter track Cavani as Icardi representatives talk to Arsenal; Chelsea duo on Serie A radar

Inter have made a €50 million bid for PSG striker Edinson Cavani. Corriere dello Sport claims that the nerazzurri made the bid last week when the two teams met in International Champions Cup tournament in the US. The journal also states that this offer was immediately rejected by the Parisians who see the 29-year-old Uruguayan as untouchable at this moment.
This morning’s sports dailies in Italy also state that representatives of Inter striker Mauro Icardi will travel to London to listen to what Arsenal has to say about their interest in the 23-year-old. If the Gunners want to seriously compete with Napoli in the race to try to sign the player, they will have to find at least €70 million and be prepared to pay an annual salary of around €5 million.

Tuttosport claims that Belgian international midfielder Axel Witsel will join Juventus this week.  The 27-year-old prefers a move to Turin than one to Goodison Park to join Everton. Having already sent a sms to his current employers Zenit St Petersburg, stating that he wants Juve at all costs, the player’s representatives will look to complete the deal in the coming days.

Juventus has also targeted Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic for a summer move (La Gazzetta dello Sport). Despite closing in on a deal for Witsel, the bianconeri still require more midfield cover for the injured Machisio and Khedira.

Tuttosport also suggests that Inter are to make a move for Chelsea midfielder Oscar. The 24-year-old’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, has already spoken to the clubs transfer supremo Piero Ausilio about the possibility of a switch to Italy.

Roma are closing in on Liverpool’s bad-boy defender Mamadou Sakho (Corriere dello Sport). The 26-year-old can arrive in the Italian capital on an initial loan-deal. The two clubs meet later today in the International Champions Cup in the US.

La Gazzetta dello Sport states that the giallorossi are also targeting Schalke defender Dennis Aogo.
Corriere dello Sport also confirms that Lazio striker Ravel Morrison has a future at the club. The 23-year-old former Manchester United player has had his problems in Rome but scored the only goal in his sides friendly win against Brighton yesterday.

Staying with Lazio, Tuttosport claims that the biancoceleste are stepping up their assault on Newcastle United midfielder Florian Thauvin. The 23-year-old is set to leave St James’ Park this summer with Serie A his preferred destination.
