Real Madrid, the figures behind the new deal for Bale

Earlier today, arrived the official announcement that Gareth Bale will commit himself to Real Madrid until 2022.

The 27-year-old Welshman is set to become the highest paid player in the world with the Guardian reporting that he is set to earn himself £150 million over the next six years. Bale’s move to the Santiago Bernabeu in September 2013 for £85 million was a world-record fee at the time and in a fabulous three seasons with the Spanish giants; the former Spurs man has helped himself to two Champions League titles, one Copa del Rey, a FIFA Club World Cup and a UEFA Supercup. He’s also scored an incredible 50 goals in 90 appearances for Los Blancos.

Negotiations over an extension have been ongoing for some months and have been played out to a backdrop of rumours suggesting the Welshman would return to the Premier League. The journal states that his new deal is worth £600,000 a week which after tax, equates to around £350,000 and contains a buy-out clause of £900 million (€1 billion).
