    STAT ATTACK: Vrsaljko's incredible season

It's been a heck of a season for Sime Vrsaljko.

Two years ago, the Genoa defender was sold to Sassuolo, having failed to make an impression in his maiden Serie A season at the Marassi.

Now, he's one of Europe's most coveted right-backs, and on the radars of Juventus, Barcelona, Napoli, Arsenal and a number of other major clubs.

Is the 25-year-old Croatian overhyped? Don't count on it.

A quick look at the stats provided for us by OPTA find the Croatian making a total of 217 crosses. That's an astounding number, as it puts him third in the league among players at all positions. He is only beaten by Alejandro Gomez (240) and Antonio Candreva (245).

What's truly shocking is that the next best defender, Achraf Lazaar, is all the way back in tenth... with 144!

This isn't the only character in which the Croatian international has truly stunned us this season: with 38 chances created, Vrsaljko is 43rd in the league... but only beaten by three other defenders, namely Marcos Alonso (42), Daniel Pavlovic (41) and Alex Sandro (39).
