Samp: Zenga sacked, Delneri and Corini ready to sub in

It has been reported in the last few minutes that Walter Zenga has been fired, having lost this weekend's game to Fiorentina.

The next few hours should see Sampdoria make it official, as well as give us at least a clue as to his successor.

UPDATED 1315 GMT: Cesare Prandelli and Vincenzo Montella have also been contacted, though Prandelli denied everything when cm.com contacted him. Read his latest column for cm.com here.

1215 GMT: According to the first rumours to emerge, former Chievo miracle worker Luigi Delneri is in pole position, having already coached Sampdoria in 2009/2010, leading the club to fourth place and a Champions League qualifying berth.

The other option, Eugenio Corini, has also coached Chievo on two occasions, and led the club to safety with some stout, if unspectacular defensive performances.
