Capello: ‘Raiola recommended Moratti to swap Cannavaro with Carini'

Former Juventus, Roma and Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello is now working as football pundit for Fox Sport Italia and has revealed an odd anecdote regarding the 2004 summer transfer window when he was in charge of Juventus.

During that summer, Juventus signed both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Fabio Cannavaro in the deadline day. The at the time Swedish striker arrived in Turin for just € 23 million, whist Cannavaro joined the club from Inter in a player-swap deal involving Buffon’s second choice goalkeeper. That deal will be remembered as one of the oddest transfers ever completed in Italy.

“Raiola convinced Moratti to swap Carini with Cannavaro”, Capello has said during his TV program Capello Collection.

Raiola was not among the most known football agents at the time, but was already the representative of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who moved from Ajax to Juventus that summer.
Cannavaro won the Ballon d’Or two years later after winning the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
