Di Natale: Why I turned down Juventus
Antonio Di Natale has revealed that Juventus showed a lot of interest in him when he was still at Udinese.
The scorer of 191 Serie A goals in 315 appearances with the Zebrette, the former Italy striker spoke of his decision on Italian Radio recently:
“I turned down Juventus”, he told Radio Incontro Olympia (as transcribed by JN24.it), “I was thinking with my heart: I was happy with my family in Udine, I was very attached to the shirt and the fans, and knew I had an important role there”.
ADN also admitted that he retired last summer because his heart wasn’t quite in it anymore, after a career spanning 11 seasons.
“I stopped playing because I felt that something wasn’t the same at the mental level, and in those cases retiring is the right thing to do. Playing ten-fifteen minutes [a reference to Totti?] is not for me, I’ve always wanted to leave everything on the field”
“I’m happy being a full-time dad, living in Empoli… I have no regrets [from my career], I’m happy of what I’ve achieved”.
