EXCLUSIVE: CM’s Refereeing Favours Table - Lazio denied pen, Belotti dived
It’s the return of Calciomercato’s very own Team Bias table, where we rank every team in Serie A according to the number of times that referees have either given them a huge helping hand, or handicapped them with a critical error. We begin with the refereeing lowlights of the week.
So, who is in the hotseat this week? Get read for a long list of complaints!
- The linesmen didn't spot Alberto Gilardino's blatant offside position on Palermo's temporary equaliser against Chievo;
- Kalidou Koulibaly cynical floored of Duvan Zapata as the former Partenopeo tried to turn on the jets. He would have been sent off for a second yellow at a key moment of the game. Luckily for the Zebrette, this was negated somewhat by Udinese making it 3-1 shortly after (thanks Gabriel!);
- Milan fans also have the right to feel aggrieved... as the corner which set up Mauricio Pinilla's ridiculous equaliser was non-existent.
- Lazio were much closer to Roma than the 4-1 score indicates, and could have even won it had the referee given them a penalty for Antonio Rudiger's foul on Felipe Anderson;
-Finally, Inter. They may have played badly, but Yuto Nagatomo did not touch Andrea Belotti, who made like a chicken and flapped his wings, earning the penalty which he then converted for the win. The Japanese full-back should obviously not have been sent off, either;
-BONUS: Nothing wrong with sending off Higuain, but we mention it here because come on, it was so meme-worthy! Poor Napoli fans, this shouldn't take away from the fact that they alone were worth the ticket price. Especially thanks to Higuain.
