Breel-Donald Embolo is among the most promising players in world football. Despite being only 18, he has already displayed his bright skills at Basel and all the best European teams have set their target on him. Embolo is a mainstay at Basel and he has already made his International debut with the senior Switzerland national team. This interview has been released following Switzerland’s victory over Estonia in the last EURO 2016 qualifying fixture.

Which is Switzerland’s target for EURO 2016?
“We still don’t know where we can get to, also because the group stage draw did not take place yet. We have a strong team, with a lot of young players, but that’s the same thing that I could say about many other sides that we might face during the tournament.”

What do you think about Italy national team?
“The Azzurri are a great team with lot of amazing players. I like [Andrea] Pirlo, [Marco] Verratti, [Mario] Balotelli and [Graziano] Pellè. Also the youngest players have great skills and I am sure Italy’s EURO 2016 will be impressive. If we had to face them next summer, that could be a good testfor us to know which level we are.”

Talking about clubs, you performance against Fiorentina in the last Europe League match has been vital to secure a Basel’s victory.
“The game against Fiorentina was a special match to us because we were playing away against a very strong team and we were even down one goal at the beginning. We know our qualities and we were happy to show our skills against the Serie A leaders, a team that play some quality football.”

Do you see yourself playing in Serie A in the future?
“I don’t know whether I’ll be playing in Serie A or not. I can tell you that I watch a lot of Serie A  games and I am really interested in the Italian league, but  I can’t predict what will happen in the future. I don’t want to mention any team, even if I might do it in the future. For now I can only say that I love Italian football.”
