Exclusive: Witsel’s move to Juventus given new hope

Juventus have been given new hope in their pursuit of Axel Witsel, our transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano has exclusively learned. The Belgium International tops the Old Lady’s shortlist for January midfield reinforcement as he’d join the J Stadium, outfit for just € 6-7 million, not to mention that he’s eligible to play in Champions League from February.

Witsel came close to joining the Serie A giants last summer, but his transfer from Zenit collapsed in the deadline day. Juventus have already an agreement with Witsel and have informed Zenit that if the player won’t be allowed to move to Turin in January, he’s going to complete a free transfer at the end of the season when his contract with the Russian club expires.

The Old Lady has had a new contact with Zenit in the last few days and the Serie A giants hope the player himself will be pushing to leave his club in January in order to join the current Serie A table leaders during the winter transfer window.
