Inter want Cahill: hard times for Ranocchia

There are rumours from England that Inter are interested in Gary Cahill, already in Capello’s national team. According to the Daily Mail, Ranieri wants to bring the 25 year old defender of Bolton to Inter in January. In reality, the player seems destined to remain at home, with Arsenal and Chelsea both wanting to sign him.

Meanwhile at Inter. Ranocchia is going through a pretty critical time. In addition to the expulsion, the penalty on Tuesday night in Novara cost him a three-match suspension for insults to the referee as he left the field. With the departure of Gasperini and his three man defence, the Italian national player born in 1988 is likely to find less space in the team: in fact Ranieri seems keen to focus on the central pair Lucio-Samuel. Moreover, his recent performances have been a little disappointing, so much so that some are begining to think that, rather than being the new Nesta, Ranocchia is the new Materazzi with less guts.
