Italy Squad: Who is sure of a place at Euro 2016?

With Euro 2016 three weeks away, concerned Italy fans won't have been too happy to open today's papers and find out who is likely to make the Azzurri squad.

The Gazzetta dello Sport believes that 16 of the total 23 are already certain of a place: Gianluigi Buffon and Salvatore Sirigu will likely be on the plane.

The defence can count on Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini and Darmian.

Candreva, Florenzi, Thiago Motta, Parolo, Giaccherini, El Shaarawy and Bernardeschi are the midfielders who look certain to fly to France.

In attack, on the other hand, Pellè, Eder and Zaza are the only certainties so far.

Who, on the other hand, is in the hunt?

The final place in goal is to be a straight fight between Marchetti, Sportiello and Mirante.

In defence, Rugani, Ogbonna, Acerbi and Astori are still chasing a place in the middle, whilst one full-back between De Silvestri and De Sciglio are still competing

In midfield, De Rossi is ahead of Jorginho and Montolivo, whilst Sturaro, Bonaventura, Soriano and Montolivo are hoping to make an appearance, too.

Leonardo Pavoletti could well be Italy's surprise package in attack, and is competing for a place alongside Insigne and Immobile.
