Juventus president Agnelli shares his thoughts on the European Super League

Juventus president Andrea Agnelli gave a speech ahead of the club’s shareholders’ meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

The Old Lady’s number 1 initially congratulated with both players and the club’s chiefs for their work over the last five seasons (Juventus won ten domestic titles in that time), before focusing on the idea of a potential new European Super League.

“An agreement between clubs and UEFA has been already found, for everyone’s good. I think, however, that it is still possible to improve. There are two billions sport fans in the world, and 1.6 billion follow football.”

“The Champions League and the Super Bowl finals are the most followed sport events in the world. Despite a catchment area which is a tenth compared to the Champions League’s, the Super Bowl’s market value’s worth twice the Champions League’s.”

“We have to think about a global competition. We are playing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when in China are sleeping and Americans are working. We managed to have games at 6pm.”
