Liverpool-Balotelli: they want to rescind his contract

Reports from England in this morning’s Daily Mail, suggest that Liverpool are contemplating rescinding the contract of Mario Balotelli.

The Italian striker has a deal in place until 2018 but is surplus to requirements at Anfield. The Merseyside club have recently tried off-loading him to China and the US without success and now the only way to take him off the club’s payroll looks to be to terminate his agreement.

The player’s agent, the ebullient Mino Raiola and the Premier League side are still trying to negotiate a suitable outcome for both parties, with the player himself preferring to remain in Milan where he’s been since the start of the season. These comments are backed up by CEO Adriano Galliani but there are huge questions marks surrounding this possibility, mainly in regards to who will be the coach next season and the economic restructuring of the club. Liverpool for their part, do not want to continue paying Balotelli an annual salary of €5 million.
