    Prem duo revive interest in De Vrij as Lazio contract talks stall

    It come as no secret that Lazio centre-back Stefan De Vrij is a top transfer target of the best European clubs out there. The Dutch defender who is currently out of action due to an injury, is set to make return in Lazio lineup soon, but, according to repubblica this could be his last season at the club.

    The Italian news outlet reports that new contract talks with Lazio are stalling and despite his agent being on very good terms with the Serie A side, there is still no agreement over the player’s contract extension.

    De Vrij’s Lazio contract expires in 2018 and the two parties have yet to find agreement over a new deal. Meantime, Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring the situation and if the 24-year-old fails to pen a new contract with Lazio in the near future, both Wenger and Conte could make a move to bring the Dutchman to the Premier League.

    De Vrij, however, is not likely to leave Lazio in the January transfer window, whilst a possible departure is more likely at the end of the current campaign.
